Obituary for Elsie M Markel
Elsie M. (nee Kelly) Markel, 80, of Mentor, passed away Saturday, Dec. 19, 2020.
Born May 17, 1940, in Spangler, Pa., she had been a resident of Lake County for more than 50 years.
Elsie loved working with children and infants. She cherished her family and grandchildren and also enjoyed gardening and cooking with her husband, Carl and then later with Karen. Elsie will be dearly missed and her family loved her very much.
She was the loving mother of Karen A. Mickshaw, Elaine M. Markel, and Paul K. Markel; cherished grandmother of Amber (Bill), Brandon (Alyson), Holly (Randy), Sarah, Matthew and Joshua; great-grandmother of Victoria (Zachary), Alexis, Billy, Ava, Aly, Rylie, Brooklyn, Hannah, Makayla and Aaron; sister-in-law of Esther Markel; and aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Elsie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl H. Markel in 2018; children, Robin L. McLean and Carl B. Markel; parents, Edward T. and Millie M. (nee Good) Kelly; and siblings, Clair (Virginia) Kelly, Wilbur (Helen) Kelly, Edward (Sarah) Kelly, and Grace (Paul) Rosian.
Family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St., (Route 615, north of Route 2), in Mentor, with a Celebration of Life to take place at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in Willoughby Memorial Gardens.
