Obituary for Dr. Raymond Shamberger

Funeral Mass for Dr. Raymond Shamberger, 87, of Kirtland, will be 12 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, at Immaculate Conception Church, 37940 Euclid Ave., Willoughby.
Ray passed away Saturday, July 2, 2022, at home following a brief illness and surrounded by his family.
He was born Aug. 23, 1934, in Munising, Mich.
Ray was a member of numerous scientific and medical organizations, a Red Cross blood donor, member of Immaculate Conception Church and its adult choir. He was also a member of the Kirtland Senior Center, Lake County YMCA, Holden Arboretum and many, many softball teams over the years. Following sports, entering sports contests, traveling with Barbara and enjoying the outdoor summer concerts gave him great pleasure.
He was on the staff at The Cleveland Clinic, was director of the King James Medical Laboratory, taught at Cleveland State University as well as Lorain and Lakeland Community Colleges. In retirement, Ray worked seasonally at Sears in Mentor to keep busy.
Ray was the beloved husband of Barbara; loving father of Chrissa, Erik (Marie), Monica (Travis) Lutz, Kara (Gus) Johnson, Michael (Sanna), and Shannon (Rob) Soehner; cherished grandfather of Connor, Collin, Tyler, Justin, Sydney, Max, Grady, Drew, Hugo, Axel, RJ and Ryan; great-grandfather of Ivy, Lila and Nova; and dear brother of Kathleen Nimee of Illinois. He also leaves sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; niece, Samantha; and many other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Kathryn Shamberger.
There will be no calling hours and burial will be private.
