Obituary for Douglas Edward Stossel

Douglas Edward Stossel, 47, of Willoughby, passed away Sunday Dec. 6, 2020, at his home surrounded by friends and family after a valiant battle with cancer.
Doug was born Dec. 28, 1972, in Cleveland, to Vincent and Ruth (nee Hoff) Stossel.
He grew up in Madison, and graduated from Madison High School in 1990. Doug then attended Ohio Northern University, where he was a member of Sigma Pi Fraternity. He graduated from ONU with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy in 1995, and married his college sweetheart, Amy Strauss Sept. 2, 2000.
Doug worked as a Registered Pharmacist for Walgreens for 19 years. He enjoyed cycling, cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers, traveling to Disney World with his family and he loved music. He was a phenomenal guitarist and played in many local bands prior to his illness. He also enjoyed being part of the Worship Team at Prince of Peace Church in Mentor and Willoughby United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Vincent Stossel; uncles, Dan
Stossel, Jack Stossel, Wilbert Hoff, and Ted Shutok; and aunts, Dolores Chunkala, Betty Mitchell, and Pat Carlson.
Doug is survived by his wife Amy; children, Chloe and Zachary; mother, Ruth Stossel; brother, Greg Stossel; sister, Jennifer (Mike) Leber; brother-in-law, Andy (Shannon) Strauss; niece, Kenadee Strauss; nephews, Ethan Strauss and Ryan Leber; as well as many other extended family members
and friends.
A livestream service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday Dec. 10, 2020, at
www.dtwchurch.org with Pastor Christopher Liberati of Willoughby United Methodist Church, officiating.
The family of Doug wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the
neuroblastoma team at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital and the leukemia team at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
