Funeral Mass for Dorothy A. Salopek, 94, of Willoughby, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Church, 37940 Euclid Ave., Willoughby.
Dorothy passed away July 14, 2022, at The Preserve at Mentor Ridge.
Born Dec. 28, 1927, in Buffington, Pa., she had been a resident of Willoughby for 68 years.
Dorothy was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Willoughby, where she was active in the Ladies Court of Mary, volunteered at the Annual Oktoberfest and helped at bingo. She loved flowers, especially red geraniums, enjoyed cooking, baking and canning vegetables, and was involved with the Lincoln School of Willoughby PTA. Family was special to Dorothy and she loved being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was the beloved wife of 72 years to Paul R. Salopek; loving mother of Debra A. (David) Walter, Cynthia K. (Robert) Bell, Paula S. (Daniel) Flight, Paul R. (Judith) Salopek II, and Linda L. (David) Misich; mother-in-law of Michael Sewalish; cherished grandmother of David, Dori, Dawn, Danielle, Becky, Vicki, Krissy, Cassie, Jessie, Katie, Amy, Jacob, Mike, Brian, Brittany, Casey, Lindsay, Jared, Shane, Matt and Megan; great-grandmother of David, Thomas, Giselle, Emmalyn, Gavin, Ryan, Eli, Aria, Bobbi, Maddie, Marleigh, Gabriel, Grace, Julia, Teddy, J.T., Jackson, Joey, Molly, Monroe, Caroline, Hayleigh, Sloane, Reagan, Apollo, and Cassius; sister-in-law of Eleanor Gernot; and aunt of many.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her daughter, Pamela Sewalish; parents, George and Anna (nee Karaffa) Gernot; and siblings, George Gernot, Betty (Paul, dec.) Kontra, Loretta (John, dec.) Olesh and Robert Gernot.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby. Burial will be in Willoughby Cemetery.
