Obituary for Doris J Porter
Funeral Mass for Doris J. (nee Gale) Porter, 89, of Mentor, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Bede the Venerable Church, 9114 Lakeshore Blvd., Mentor. Father Timothy Plavac will officiate.
Doris passed away Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Hospice House of the Western Reserve in Cleveland.
She was born Oct. 14, 1933, in Dayton.
Doris was a member of St. Bede the Venerable Church, and was dedicated to her church and faith. She was a graduate of Marymount High School, a former member of the Mother’s Twins Club, loved gardening, baking, reading, coloring and was very creative. She also enjoyed watching the Hallmark Channel.
Mrs. Porter had worked as the gift shop manager for Lake Hospital System and MetroHealth Medical Center.
She was the loving mother of Jeffrey Porter, Jill (Richard) Rossman, Keith (Laurie) Porter, Kurt Porter, Kim (Jeff) Boggs and Gail Porter; cherished grandmother of Stefanie (Bryce), Megan, Troy, Julianne (Collin), Ronald (Julia), Erica, Kyle (Annie), Aurielle (Addison), Bryce and Austin; great-grandmother of Declan and Canaan; dear sister of William (Toni) Gale and Dorothy “Dottie” (Jack) Vodrazka; and aunt of nieces and nephews.
Doris was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Charles Porter in 2022; daughter-in-law, Robbie Porter; son-in-law, John Bucks; grandson, Matthew; and parents, William and Mildred (nee Budniak) Gale.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St. (Route 615, north of Route 2), in Mentor. Burial will be in Mentor Cemetery.
