Edward passed away Friday, Feb. 17, 2023, at his residence.
Born March 6, 1931, in Cleveland, he had been a resident of Lake County for 69 years, living in Mentor before moving to Willoughby Hills.
Edward never failed to be an amazing example of love and faith. His voice was one of the ways he shared his faith. On May 23, 1992, in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Bishop Anthony M. Pilla ordained Edward to the Permanent Diaconate for the service of the Diocese of Cleveland for 30 years. Deacon Feldkamp was assigned to serve at St. Noel Parish in Willoughby Hills and then in 1998, he was assigned to serve at Immaculate Conception Church in Willoughby, where he served until retiring Feb. 1, 2003.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Willoughby and Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree Mentor Council, where he served as secretary and treasurer of the council. Edward was a former member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Mentor, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society and served as a Eucharistic Minister of the church. Ed was a 1948 graduate of Cathedral Latin High School, loved the outdoors and working in his yard and cherished family gatherings. He also enjoyed sports, but most of all his faith, family and friends were always his main priorities.
Ed was the beloved husband of 73 years to Dorothy A. (nee Intihar) Feldkamp, whom he married July 23, 1949; loving father of Constance R. (Wayne) Streble, Rosemary (Dan) Sizler, Edward J. (Laura) Feldkamp III, Elizabeth J. (Harry) Jones, Theresa A. (Jim) Short, John T. (Donna) Feldkamp, Mary F. Hinkelman, Mark C. (Laura) Feldkamp, Faith A. (Tony) Ritchie; cherished grandfather of 33; great-grandfather of 72; and great-great-grandfather of three.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward J. Sr. and Florence (nee Thomas) Feldkamp; and siblings, Dorothy Jean (Ken, dec.) Henson and Thomas Feldkamp.
Burial will follow the Mass at Mentor Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name are suggested to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland, OH 44110, or the Charity of Your Choice.
