Obituary for Daniel Russo

Funeral Mass for Daniel Russo, 97, of Willoughby, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Church, 37940 Euclid Ave., Willoughby.
Daniel passed away Thursday, March 17, 2022, at Mentor Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born Jan. 22, 1925, in Cleveland, he was a resident of Willoughby for 68 years.
Mr. Russo retired from the City of Willoughby, where he had worked as the Superintendent of City Services.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, receiving a Purple Heart. Daniel was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and Willoughby Eagles Aerie 2300. He loved golf, enjoyed flying and musical instruments, and was very good at drawing. Daniel also enjoyed building things and was excellent in carpentry and concrete work. Most of all, his family was most important to him and he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Daniel was the loving father of Daniel (Leona) Russo Jr., and Marian M. (Michael) Paradise; cherished grandfather of Danielle (Mark) Knight, Angela (Mark) Gartner and Patricia Zele; great-grandfather of Sisto, Louie, Michael, Kylie, Christian, Noel, Gianna and Anton; and the loving uncle of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy (nee Bozeglav) Russo; grandson, Nicholas Scott Russo; parents, Michael and Mary Josephine (nee Fratina) Russo; brothers, Phillip (Christine, dec.) Russo and twin brother, Alfred (Tina) Russo; and sisters, Theresa (Anthony, dec.) Baratta, Lucy (Edward, dec.) Sterling and Mary (Charles, dec.) Platia.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at The Abbey of Willoughby, 38011 Euclid Ave. (located on the grounds of McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home), in Willoughby. Burial will follow the Mass at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
