Obituary for Charlene "Sherry" Palmisano

On Friday, Dec. 25, 2020, Charlene “Sherry” Palmisano, a devoted wife and loving mother of five sons, passed away at the age of 86.
Sherry was born Sept. 1, 1934, in Broadview Heights, to Wilbert and Elizabeth (nee Sushinskas) Dorenkott.
Ever modest and self-deprecating, she was at the same time effusively proud of her boys and their father. She loved the outdoors and nature, expressing that love through camping with her boys, hiking in the Metroparks with her grandchildren and dogs, and perennially working in her yard and gardens. She didn’t believe Mother Nature ever created a weed or an ugly toad. Sherry hid lifelong shyness well with a kind smile for all. She hoped to be remembered as a gentle person that loved all those around her.
Sherry was preceded in death by her husband, Mario; parents, Wilbert J. and Elizabeth; brother, Wilbert A.; and son, Mark.
She is survived by her sons, Richard (Judy), James (Amy), John (Maureen), and Peter (Johnny); 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Donna and Beth (Bob); sister-in-law, Carol Dorenkott; brothers-in-law, Joe (Claire), David (Diane), and Jerry (Sue) Palmisano, and many nieces and nephews.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a Memorial Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception in Willoughby at a later date. A memorial picnic will be held at Claridon Woodlands Park in Chardon on Sept. 26, 2021. Sherry would be well honored by getting one’s hands dirty and planting something.
Arrangements are entrusted to McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Homes in Willoughby and Mentor.
