Obituary for Catherine Frances Dwyer
Catherine Frances Dwyer, 89, of Cleveland Heights, passed away Feb. 18, 2021, at the Montefiore Home in Beachwood.
Born Feb. 20, 1931, in Cleveland, she was the beloved daughter of the late William B. and Catherine M. (nee Madden) Dwyer, and the late Francis Haspray.
She was the loving sister of Mary Dwyer Peters (Frank, dec.), and Patrick E. Dwyer; loving aunt of many nieces and nephews; and cousin to many.
Catherine was a 1949 graduate of Villa Angela High School, and a 1956 graduate of the St. John College School of Nursing. She had been a lifetime nurse and caregiver, working as a visiting nurse for the City of Cleveland, supervisor for Riverview Assisted Living and as the Cleveland City Hall Nurse under the Carl Stokes administration. Catherine had received many awards for her professional services and dedication to the health of the citizens of Cleveland including Mayors Locher, Perk and Stokes, Cancer Society, Red Cross and others.
Catherine was known for her generous heart and love for her pets. She enjoyed shopping trips, sewing and ice skating at the Cleveland Arena.
Private family services will be held. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Cleveland.
Contributions in her name are suggested to the Cleveland Food Bank or an Animal Shelter.
