Obituary for Carol J Ameen

This past Sunday, June 6, 2021, we lost a beloved wife, mother, nana, sister and friend. Carol J. (nee Ross) Ameen passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family after a nine month struggle with liver disease.
Born June 11, 1946, in Youngstown, she had been a resident of Lake County for 48 years.
It’s hard to find words to describe her vibrant energy and the all the love she gave throughout the years. Carol was devoted to serving others, with a deep calling to those who were grieving. Her proudest accomplishment was developing the Bereavement Program for Hospice. She was one of the Diocese’s first female pastoral ministers, a member of St. John Vianney Church, founding member of All Saints School in Wickliffe, and was proud of her Italian Heritage. She filled her days with volunteering at her church, the Mentor Senior Center, American Cancer Society and Hospice. When she wasn’t volunteering, she was playing Dominoes with her dames, bowling with the Pocket Busters, cruising with friends, praying with her Bible study group and spending quality time with her family. Perhaps her most favorite past time of all was spoiling her four grandchildren.
Carol is survived by her husband of 53 years, Thomas; three children, Tommy, Lynn (Andrew) Rollins, and Carrie; grandchildren, Dominica, Alex, Max and Jacob; brother, Wayne; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Augustine and Helen (nee DiIullo) Ross.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby.
Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. John Vianney Church, 7575 Bellflower Road, Mentor. Father Dan Schlegel will officiate. (Friends will be receive from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Monday prior to the Mass at church.) Mass will be live streamed at sjvmentor.org.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Hospice of Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland, OH 44110, St. John Vianney Poor and Needy, 7575 Bellflower Road, Mentor, OH 44060, or St. Jude’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
