Obituary for Bernard H Keary
Funeral Mass for Bernard H. Keary, 81, of Mentor-on-the-Lake, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Vianney Church, 7575 Bellflower Road, Mentor. Father Tom Johns will officiate the Mass.
Bernard passed away Friday, June 4, 2021, at his residence.
Born Oct. 25, 1939, in Cleveland, he had lived in Chagrin Falls and New York, before moving to Lake County more than 50 years ago.
He was a founding member of St. John Vianney Church, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. Bernard was also a graduate of Chagrin Falls High School, a U.S. Navy veteran, and member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4801 Third Degree. He enjoyed and was an avid darter, bowler and gardener.
Mr. Keary had worked at Upson Machine, General Electric, and Matrix Tool.
He was the beloved husband of 59 years to Jeanine E. (nee Souque) Keary; loving father of Michelle (Chip) Keary Reed, Denise (Marlene) Keary, Bernard J. Keary, Linda (Patrick) Keary Foss, and Kathleen (Robert) Keary Fulmer; cherished grandfather of Andrew, Christopher (Ashley), Cameron, Alexis, Amber, Benjamin, Emily, Elisse, R.J., Troy (Rhiannon), and Kyle; dear brother of Stephen (Karen) Keary; brother-in-law of Janeen; and uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Bernard was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Elizabeth Keary; and siblings, Pat Randell, John Keary, and Betty Jean Riddle.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at The Abbey of Willoughby, 38011 Euclid Ave. (located on the grounds of McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home), in Willoughby, where a Knights of Columbus Rosary Service will be held 7 PM Tuesday. Burial will be in Mentor Cemetery.
