Aven Marie Cawley, 40, of Willoughby, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2023, at her residence.
Born Sept. 29, 1982, in Euclid, she had been a resident of Lake County for more than 10 years, living in Mentor before moving to Willoughby.
Aven was a 2000 graduate of Mentor High School. While in high school, she was also taking classes at Lakeland Community College. During her junior year, Aven took nursing classes at Willoughby Tech, graduating from the program in 1999. During her residency and internship programs, Aven also obtained courses through the Cleveland Institute of Medical-Dental Assistants, graduating in 2001, as well as working at a facility for oncology in Euclid. Once Aven graduated and obtained her degree, she worked at Mentor Altercare and advanced to Governors Village in Willoughby Hills. Aven was well loved and quickly became like family to her residents who looked forward to her caretaking every day.
Aven was the loving daughter of Steven Cawley of Mentor; dear sister of Jessica Cawley of Mentor; beloved granddaughter of Gertrude Cawley of Willoughby; aunt of Jacob Bortz of Mentor; niece of Karen Thomas of Shady Spring, W.Va. and Eric Cawley of Piney View, W.Va.
She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Katherine (nee Ranallo) Cawley; grandfather, John Cawley; great aunt, Betty Lorenzo; Godfather, George Slovinsky; and significant other, Terry Cromie.
Family will receive friends from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 22, at The Abbey of Willoughby, 38011 Euclid Ave. (located on the grounds of McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home), in Willoughby, with a Celebration of Life service from 4 to 5 p.m. Pastor Phillip Hillditch of Victory Baptist Church of Mentor will officiate.
