Obituary for Audrey E Laird

Audrey E. (nee Strugar) Laird, 81, of Mentor, passed away Friday, June 4, 2021, at her residence.
She was born Feb. 23, 1940, in Cleveland.
Audrey was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Howard S. Laird; children, Anita, Carolyn and Stephen; great-granddaughter, Jesse Ann; and parents, Louise Valentino, Michael and Valerie (nee Franciuk) Strugar.
She was the loving mother of Christine (Richard) Norris, Catherine Rydzinski, Cheryl (Edward) Leonardi, and Sheila (Tony) Chiofolo; cherished grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother of 25; sister to many who loved and cherished her; and aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Audrey attended cosmetology school and studied hotel management. She became an accounting controller, and a food and beverage manager at many different hotels. In her younger days, Audrey and her late husband, Howard were caretakers on the grounds of St. Mary’s Romanian Orthodox Cathedral in Cleveland. Audrey was an avid bowler and loved to crochet, play bingo and poker, go to the casino, and gardening. She also loved cooking, baking and most of all spending time with her family.
Audrey loved all Cleveland sports teams, especially the Cleveland Browns. Because of her love of the Cleveland Browns, sports attire is welcome.
Family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby, where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will follow at Willoughby Memorial Gardens.
