Obituary for Anthony Paul Donofrio

Anthony Paul Donofrio, aged 95, passed away peacefully June 2, 2022 at Maple Ridge in Willoughby.
He was born Jan. 25, 1927, in Cleveland.
Tony was an avid sportsman, played football for Shaw High School and Miami of Ohio. He was a golfer up through age 94, and played minor league baseball for the Chicago White Sox organization. Tony was a proud veteran of World War II, having served in Italy. He was a past president of the Italian American Club (MCC in Little Italy) and active member.
Tony was the loving father of Constance Gurecki of Arizona, Jo Anne (Ed) Lewis of Florida, Patrick Donofrio of Ohio and Nancy Donofrio of Arizona; and beloved father-in-law of Gloria Donofrio of Ohio. Tony was also the cherished uncle of many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will be missed along with his beloved many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 69 years, Inez (nee Campbell); son, James Vincent; sisters, Virginia Gorjanc, Armita Ross and Josephine Cocita; and brother, John.
Tony requested no official memorial service, though a Celebration of Life to honor him and the placement of his remains along with his beloved wife’s will be interred at Ohio Western Reserve Cemetery in Seville, Ohio at a later date.
Tony was a lover of animals, donations to the Geauga Humane Society’s Rescue Village on his behalf will be appreciated.
