Obituary for Amelia Marie "Amy" DiLallo
Funeral Mass for Amelia “Amy” Marie DiLallo, 95, of Chardon, will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 29, 2021, at St. Mary’s Church, 401 North St., Chardon. (Family and friends are to meet at church.)
Amelia passed away Jan. 21, 2021, at Maplewood at Chardon. Her sisters, Florence DiLallo and Joann Zarlenga, were also residing with Amelia.
Amelia was born in Youngstown, and spent her childhood years on Thorn Hill Road before moving to Alameda Ave., with her parents, four sisters and three brothers. Growing up with immigrant parents, Amelia loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her family and extended family. She enjoyed her time volunteering at Park Vista Nursing and Rehabilitation Center as well as with the Ladies of Charity in Youngstown. She also enjoyed music and dancing and often went to the Idora Park and Avon Oaks Ballrooms to listen and dance to big band music. Amy, in her younger years, was a beautician. She would often dress quite “sharp,” with her hair and makeup done perfectly to “dance the night away.”
Amy worked at General Electric and retired after 30 years.
She was a loving person, who was always smiling. Even after her move to assisted living, she would continue to give away smiles to the staff who cared for her at Maplewood at Chardon and Hospice of the Western Reserve. The family wishes to thank all of them and knows you are all truly Angels.
Amelia leaves behind her loving sisters, Florence DiLallo and Joann Zarlenga; loving brother, Frank DiLallo; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Florence (nee Ritucci); brothers, Carl, Joseph and Dominic; and sister, Rachael Williams.
Amelia will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
