Obituary for Agnes Rose Borelli

Agnes Rose (nee Martz) Borelli, 89, of Fairport Harbor, passed away Saturday, Dec. 26, 2020, at TriPoint Medical Center in Concord Township.
Born Sunday, April 26, 1931, on her family's farm in Alexandria, Ky., she lived in Alexandria for about 22 years before moving to Fairport Harbor. She was amazed when she saw Lake Erie for the first time, right there in her little town. She met and married her husband of almost 67 years, making Fairport Harbor her home. She used to love walking to the many businesses that were in town.
Agnes was a bookkeeper for a bank in Alexandria, Ky., by the time she was 16. She had already lost both of her parents, a newborn sister and her grandmother so, she had to leave her family's 50-acre farm and move into the city. She worked for Cleveland Trust Bank, Lake County Memorial Hospital and Carlisle's in Painesville, before retiring. She had been friends with Isola Starcher, since they were co-worker's at Lake County Memorial Hospital many years ago.
Agnes loved country music with Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline and Conway Twitty being her favorites. She once won a contest describing why she loved country music in 100 words. She and her daughter attended the first Jamboree in the Hills concert in 1977. While Agnes loved all of her grandchildren, she enjoyed spending 3 1/2 years caring for her grandson, Jack Basiger. She and her husband loved dogs and had many fur babies over their years together. She also loved her sweets including circus peanuts, spice drops, cinnamon bears, ginger snaps, frosted animal cookies and balish to name a few.
Agnes lost her maternal and paternal families at an early age. She became part of the Borelli family in 1954, when she married her husband. He was one of ten children born to John and Louise (Tazio) Borelli. She soon became a sister-in-law and aunt to many. She was known as "Ag" by the adults and "Aunt Aggie" by the children. She enjoyed attending the large family gatherings over the years.
Agnes was the devoted wife of Thomas P. Borelli Sr., whom she married Jan. 23, 1954, in Fairport Harbor; loving mother of Debra L. Borelli of Mentor, and Thomas P. (Barb) Borelli Jr. of Fairport Harbor; cherished grandmother of John Borelli, Steven (Kristen) Borelli, Jack (Erin) Basiger, Jillian Basiger, Marshall Borelli, Stacey (Josh) Sundberg, and Kristin (Kirk) Klinger; great-grandmother of Dasie and Brodie Borelli (John), Stella and Enzo Borelli (Steven), Mack Basiger (Jack), Alaina and Cole Sundberg (Stacey) and Nolan and Levi Klinger (Kristin); and great-great-grandmother of Leo Childress (Dasie).
Agnes was preceded in death by her mother, Marie Susan (nee Roth); father, Jacob J. Martz; newborn sister, Helen; uncle, Joseph (Rose) Martz; and aunt, Mary Martz.
