Obituary for Galliano Mercadante

Galliano Mercadante, 71, of Willoughby, passed away Monday, Oct. 17, 2016, at Lake Health West Medical Center in Willoughby.
Born Nov. 7, 1944, in Sinagra, Messina (ME), Sicily, he had been a resident of Lake County for the past 46 years.
He was an avid Juventus fan (soccer), and loved Formula One car racing. He also enjoyed camping and fishing, loved Vino, Scotch and made great Cherry Brandy and Sangria. Galliano was a loving husband, was very supportive, had a great sense of humor and was a great cook.
Mr. Mercadante worked for more than 20 years at Dalton’s in Willoughby and retired from as a road foreman for the City of Willoughby Hills.
He was the beloved husband of 40 years to Diane E. (nee Breach) Mercadante; loving father of Jason (Kim) Wallingford, Joseph Mercadante and Leah Stewart; cherished grandfather of Taylor Wallingford, Krystal Kirby, Evan Kirby and Ethan Kirby; brother of Tony (Anita) Mercadante, Frank (Santa) Mercadante, Umberto (Rose Marie) Mercadante, and Angelina (Nick) Oriti; and uncle of nieces and nephews.
Galliano was preceded in death by his parents, Felice and Josephina (nee Corica) Mercadante; and sister, Rosetta Mercadante.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at The Abbey of Willoughby, 38011 Euclid Ave. (located on the grounds of McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home), in Willoughby, where a Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be private.
