Obituary for William Thomas "Tom" Sizer

Funeral Mass for William Thomas “Tom” Sizer, 86, of Mentor, will be 9:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 18, at St. John Vianney, 7575 Bellflower Road, Mentor. Father Tom Johns will officiate.
Tom passed away Aug. 9, 2023, at UH Lake West Hospital in Willoughby.
Born June 6, 1937, in Cleveland, he had been a resident of Mentor for more than 50 years.
Tom was a member of St. John Vianney Church in Mentor, and was very strong in his faith and participated in many functions at the church. He attended Immaculate Conception Grade School and was a 1956 graduate of Willoughby Union High School. After high school, Tom served in the U.S. Army and then began his career at an assembler at Addressograph-Multigraph in Cleveland until his retirement. He enjoyed being a model railroader and attended many local and national conventions and traveled the United States and various countries extensively.
He was the dear brother of Joan Gomersall of Saratoga, Calif.; uncle of Susan of Ft. Collins, Colo., Jennifer of Portland, Ore., Joan of Merced, Calif., John of Wahiawa, Oahu, Hawaii, Janice of Missoula, Mont., Edison of Chico, Calif., and Timothy “Tim” of Eureka, Calif.; great-uncle of 18; great-great-uncle of five; brother-in-law of Jean (Marty) Linn; uncle to her son, Marty (Laurel); great-uncle to Marty’s son, Matthew; and because of his longtime friendship with Thomas and Barbara Keptner, he was known as “Uncle Sizer” to their entire family.
Tom was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol A. (nee Krejci) Sizer; and parents, William Harvey and Mary R. (nee Blaha) Sizer.
Family will receive friends from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass at church. Burial will follow the Mass at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
