Obituary for Tommy M Smith

Tommy M. Smith, 82, of Willoughby, passed away Sunday, Dec. 11, 2022, at UH Lake West Medical Center in Willoughby.
Born Oct. 15, 1940, in Czar, W.Va., he had been a resident of Lake County for 58 years.
Tommy was a member of Willoughby Eagles Aerie 2300 and Mentor Eagles Aerie 3605, Loyal Order of Moose in Painesville, F.O.P.A., American Legion Post 336 in Painesville and V.F.W. Post 1500 in Willoughby. He enjoyed golf, bowling and softball. Most important to him though was his love for his family. Tommy was a proud “Poppy,” and loved his grandchildren dearly. If you knew Tommy, you were welcomed to “The Basement.”
He was the beloved husband of 61 years to Jean M. (nee Duncan) Smith; loving father of Kenneth A. Smith; cherished Poppy of Katie (Andy) Potopas, Jessica (Brian) Barbian, Ryan Sires (Maggie Moon), Ashley (Justin) Jude, Jon Sires, Tommy Smith and Allyson Smith; great-grandfather of Jayden and Cali; brother of Josie (Bill) Sugalski; brother-in-law of Richie Duncan; and uncle of many nieces and nephews. He also leaves his “favorite” sister-in-law, Marilyn Lincewicz (Gene Roeder).
Tommy was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna M. Sires; parents, Leslie and Lucy (nee Cutright) Smith; four sisters; and one brother.
Family will receive friends from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at The Abbey of Willoughby, 38011 Euclid Ave. (located on the grounds of McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home), in Willoughby, where a funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Friday.
