Obituary for Thomas C Savage

Thomas C. Savage, a former longtime resident of Willoughby, passed away of natural causes Feb. 4, 2021, at age 93.
Tom was born Jan. 31, 1928, in Cleveland, to the late Charles Elmer and Gertrude Mary (nee McIvor) Savage.
He was the beloved husband of 63 years to Sandra “Sandy” (nee Brown); loving father of Christine Ball (Gary Schafrick), Bill Savage (Donna), Laura Hagen (Christopher), and Elizabeth Scharton (John); dearest grandfather of Kennedy Mitchell, Thomas Ball, Gillian Hagen, Alyson Hagen, Veronica Savage and TJ Savage; brother of Margaret “Peg” Howard; uncle, honorary grandpa and friend of many.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Savage and Virginia (Denny, dec.) Dickerson; and brother-in-law, James Howard.
Tom attended Shaw High School, was a former bricklayer, a U.S. Army Korean War veteran and had a 32-year career as a proud Firefighter/Fire Inspector for the City of South Euclid, retiring in 1987.
Tom was dedicated to his family and could fix anything if you had a year or two to wait for it to be done right. He had a great sense of humor and a love for music, food and sleep, earning him the nickname of Rip Van Winkle at the FD. He will be greatly missed.
The family wishes to thank all who helped care for Tom so lovingly, especially Rockeysha, Stephanie, Chrissy and the staff of Briar Hill and Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be forwarded to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, P.O. Box 72101, Cleveland, OH 44192.
Mass of Christian Burial 12 Noon Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Church, 37940 Euclid Ave., Willoughby. Father Michael Troha will officiate. (Due to Covid-19, the wearing of masks and social distancing are strictly required.) The Mass can be viewed via Facebook Live on the funeral home Facebook page.
