Obituary for Thomas Edward Pesosky
Funeral Mass for Thomas Edward Pesosky, 98, of Mentor-on-the-Lake, will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at St. John Vianney Church, 7575 Bellflower Road, Mentor. (*Family and friends are asked to meet at the church.)
Thomas passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at UH Lake West Medical Center in Willoughby.
Born Jan. 19, 1925, in Hiller, Pa., he had lived in East Cleveland before moving to Lake County 55 years ago.
Thomas was a founding member of St. John Vianney and served as an usher. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II aboard the USS Hammann DE-131, and was a member of VFW Post 1500 in Willoughby. Thomas was a huge football and baseball fan and loved polka music, especially Polka Varieties.
Thomas was the beloved husband of 70 years to Dorothy A. (nee Mackanick) Pesosky; loving father of Thomas M. (Ellen) Pesosky, Julieann (Tom) Mauerer, and Philip A. (Becky) Pesosky; cherished grandfather of Jennifer (Joe) Miceli, Tommy (Mandy) Mauerer, Kristen (Dan) Barbera, Michael (Stephanie) Pesosky, and Andrew Pesosky (Tallon Vannoy); great-grandfather of Ella, Jackson, Gigi, Paisley, Mason, Jacob, Maximus, Lucy, Joey, Charlotte, Michael and Miles; and uncle of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Thomas and Mary (nee Kavlick) Pesosky; sister, Betty (Ben, dec.) Imrich; and brother, Richard (Pauline, dec.) Pesosky.
The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until time of Mass Tuesday, April 11, at church. Burial will follow the Mass at Mentor Cemetery.
