Obituary for Richard E Robinson

Richard E. Robinson, 77, of Mentor, passed away Jan. 21, 2023.
Born April 29, 1945, in Jacksonville, Fla., Richard was a graduate of Bay Village High School and The Ohio State University.
He honorably served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army. He received a National Defense Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal, a Campaign Medal, and a Good Service Medal. A disabled veteran, Richard suffered the effects of Agent Orange. He had his pilot’s certification, volunteered for VISTA in Appalachia, and was a Mason in Rocky River Lodge 703 with his father.
Richard worked at Case Western Reserve University in the dental department as an IT programmer. His interest in computer technology began in the 1960s. He loved keeping family and friends up to date with new computers and upgrades, giving fun techie gifts, like Alexa and Google Home, and teaching and helping those that needed his tech advice and assistance. Richard will be missed by many.
He is survived by his loving wife, Christine (née Lloyd) Grenig; daughter, Jennifer of Portland, Ore.; son, Michael (Brittany) of Hebron, Ky.; stepson, Scott (Liz Anderson) Grenig of Rocky River; stepdaughter, Tracey (Tim Zinni) Grenig of Beloit; step-grandchildren, Taylor and Scott Grenig of Cleveland; sister, Sue (Greg) DeYo of Bay Village; brother, George (Louise) of 84 Lumber, Pa.; sisters-in-law, Hue Robinson of Clifton, Va., and Susan Channing-Lloyd of Chardon; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Commander Harold and Evelyn (née Olson); daughter, Tiffany; and brother, Jack.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023, at McMahon-Coyne Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St. (Route 615, north of Route 2), in Mentor, with a Celebration of Life and Military Honors at 3:30 p.m.
