Obituary for Patrick A Hammond
Patrick A. Hammond, 71, of Kirtland Hills, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2023, at The Cleveland Clinic.
He was born June 28, 1951, in East Cleveland.
Family was most important to Patrick, and he was the peacekeeping patriarch of the large Hammond family. He always made sure to take care of everyone, putting their needs before his own. Patrick had a big heart and always found the silver lining in every situation, finding the best in everyone. And, even though he did not always show it, he somehow always had a way of making you feel loved.
Patrick was smart, hard-working, determined, fun-loving, an avid auction person, enjoyed running and golfing, and always ready with an interesting story to make you smile. He was very much loved by all who met him and his passing with leave a hole in their hearts that cannot be filled.
Mr. Hammond was a retired employed employee of PPG, where he had worked as a chemist.
Patrick was the beloved husband of Melissa G. (nee McGonagle) Hammond; loving father of Kelly K. (Steve) Maxham, Heather N. (Jesse) Noonan, Meghan M. Hammond, and Erin L. Hammond; cherished grandfather of Jason, Cullen, Taylor, Bridget, Riley, Elissa, Logan, Melanie, Gavin and Madeline; dear brother of Josanne Hammond, Kevin E. (Cynthia) Hammond, Mary Brigid Hammond (Susan Radbourne), and Timothy J. Hammond; and the uncle and great-uncle of many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Murray and Kathleen (nee Hagan) Hammond; and brother, Michael A. Hammond.
Family will receive friends from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 3, at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby, with a Celebration of Life service at 4 p.m. Burial will be private.
