Obituary for Patricia Ann Palenschat

Funeral Mass for Patricia Ann (nee Kinn) Palenschat, 76, of Mentor, will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, at St. Bede the Venerable Church, 9114 Lakeshore Blvd., Mentor. Father Tim Plavac will officiate.
Born Oct. 10, 1946, in Cleveland, Pat passed away Dec. 20, 2022, at Regency Hospital in Warrensville Heights with her loving family at her side.
Pat had a fulfilling and happy life that centered around her friends, family, and faith. Nothing brought Pat more joy than caring for others starting with her husband, children, grandchildren, and extended family. She treasured her son-in-law, Kevin and her daughter-in-law, Sandy as if they were her own, and they loved her in kind. She loved celebrating happy moments of her grandchildren’s lives and empathized with even their smallest struggles. Pat’s family was her primary focus. She was very involved in their daily lives and took care of them until the end. She was a friend to many, always grounded in her faith and full of laughter. Pat was a very active member of St. Bede the Venerable Church in Mentor, where she sang in the church choir. She was also a member of the Heisley Racquet Club and played Bocce in the St. Bede’s Bocce League. A polio survivor as a child, Pat graduated from Villa Angela High School, attended both Kent State and Lakeland Community College, and enjoyed over 25 years as a dental hygienist at Macy Family Dentistry in Mentor.
Pat had many interests in things that brought her joy including family beach vacations, swimming, singing in her church choir or to the oldies with friends, watching PGA golf and figure skating, enjoying her “grand dogs,” playing card games, bocce, crossword puzzles, or finding that perfect greeting card. Those who knew Pat were truly blessed, as she brought kindness into every life she touched.
She was the beloved wife of 49 years to Roy W. Palenschat; loving mother of Amy M. (Kevin) Rottinghaus, and Tom P. (Sandra) Palenschat; cherished grandmother of Joe, Mac, Jane, Ellie and Nina; dear sister of Eileen O’Connor, Nancy (Peter) Carpenter, MaryBeth (Mike) Van Himbergen, Jack (Donna) Kinn and Joanne Kinn; and aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, John and Jane (nee Hendrickson) Kinn.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St. (Route 615, north of Route 2), in Mentor. A private burial will be in Mentor.
Donations in her name are suggested to St. Bede the Venerable Church or the American Lung Association.
