Obituary for Mario J DiFranco

Mario J. Di Franco, 75, of Willoughby, passed away Sunday, Aug. 6, 2023.
Born Sept. 8, 1947, in Cleveland, he had lived in the Collinwood area of Cleveland before moving to Willoughby 32 years ago.
Mario was a master plumber and had a deep love for his trade. He was the owner of Mario J. Di Franco Plumbing Company and served as the plumbing inspector for Willoughby and Lake County. Additionally, he held the position of Chief Building Official for the City of Willoughby Hills. Mario also enjoyed assisting contractors in obtaining their State of Ohio Plumbing License and taught continuing education as a certified instructor through the OCILB. He was an active member of BOCONEO and the International Code Council.
He was a member of the Willoughby Kiwanis, Sons of the American Legion in Madison, and the RAM Island Boat Club in Fairport Harbor. Mario enjoyed yardwork, gardening, baseball, fishing, hunting, golfing, and was always waiting for "next year" in hopes of success for Cleveland sports.
Mario was the beloved husband of 43 years to Sharon A. (nee Shields) Di Franco; cherished father of Dana N. (Bryan) Van Loan, Dustin J. (Deidre) Di Franco, Chelsea M. (Joseph) Di Franco-Ferrone, and Carlin M. Di Franco; and loving grandfather of Larkin E. Van Loan, Nolan C. Van Loan, Landon N. Van Loan, and Jake R. Di Franco.
He was preceded in death by his dear son, Matthew Mario Di Franco; and parents, Mario J. and Mary (nee Capretta) Di Franco.
