Obituary for Loretta Ann Taggart
Funeral Mass for Loretta Ann (nee Strauss) Taggart, 84, of Mentor, will be 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, 2024, at St. John Vianney Church, 7575 Bellflower Road, Mentor. Fr. Tom John will officiate.
Loretta passed away Sunday, Jan. 7, 2024, at her home.
Born March 8, 1939, in Cleveland, she had lived there before moving to Lake County 60 years ago.
Loretta was a member of the Cleveland Hiking Club. Her passions included traveling and "mystery trips,” reading, beach glass collecting, visiting National Parks, hiking, swimming, sunsets, and spending time as a spectator at her grandchildren’s sporting events.
She was an orthopedic nurse and worked at the Cleveland Clinic and Hospice of the Western Reserve at the David Simpson Hospice House.
Loretta was the loving mother of Robert Taggart, Deborah (Michael) Volker, Michelle (Michael) Ritch and Douglas (Kim) Taggart; cherished grandmother of Rachael (Ronnie) Cobb, Lauren Taggart (Ted Rowan), Brendan (Caylee) Volker, Ryan (Carrie) Volker, Nathan (Sarah) Volker, Kelly Colon, Charlie Colon, Katie Colon, Andrew Taggart and Abbey Taggart; great-grandmother of Jayson, Lily, William and Nolan; dear sister of Dolores Timko and Dianne Bardos; and the aunt, great-aunt and friend of many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary (nee Pcelar) Strauss; siblings, John Strauss, Mary Ann Milite, Aria Faith Volker; and son-in-law, Jayson Medves.
Family will receive friends from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her name are suggested to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland, OH 44110.
