Obituary for Joseph Leonard Tavano

Funeral Mass for Joseph L. “TV” Tavano, age 91, of Willowick, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, at St. Mary Magdalene Church, 32114 Vine St., Willowick.
Joseph passed away Oct. 6, 2022.
Born July 23, 1931, in Cleveland, Joe was raised in the Collinwood neighborhood of Cleveland, the beloved son of the late Leonardo and Lucia.
Joe was a proud graduate of Cathedral Latin High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, stationed in Germany. Back in the day, Joe was an avid bowler and golfer.
After 33 years, Joe retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1988. Joe then worked for Local 880 at Reider’s Stop-N-Shop, where he again retired.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene (nee Skufca); grandson, Dennis; and sister, Rose Drew.
He was the dear father of Jodi (Janine), Jamie (Kim) Andrea (Bill) and Gina (Brian) Nelson; cherished grandfather of Joey, Jake, Jack, Dominic, Benito, and Elizabeth; and cherished uncle of Barb and Greg Drew.
The family would like to thank Joe’s caring neighbors.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at The Abbey of Willoughby, 38011 Euclid Ave. (located on the grounds of McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home), in Willoughby. Burial will follow the Mass at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
As with Joe’s late wife wishes, all contributions are respectfully requested to go St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
