Obituary for Joseph Allen "Bud" Mikovich

Joseph Allen “Bud” Mikovich, 72, of Montville, passed away Friday, March 19, 2021, at his home.
Born Aug. 13, 1948, in Cleveland, he had lived in Euclid and Mentor Headlands before moving to Geauga County 45 years ago.
Bud had served as an Avionics Technician in the U.S. Navy, obtaining the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class from 1969 to 1973, stationed at the Naval Air Stations in Key West, Fla., and Quonset Point, R.I. After the Navy, he went on to work for the Xerox Corporation for 35 years as a Senior Customer Service Engineer. Once retired, he became owner of a laser engraving company, Image Research, where he spent countless hours creating laser engraved collectibles.
Bud was a popular and gregarious man. He made friends easily, could brighten up any room with his many facial expressions, his smile, his laughter, and of course his wit. He would strike up a conversation with anyone, and for sure left an impression on all. He was a good man with the biggest, loving heart. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. As an engineer in his own right, he was a skilled craftsman, who could design or fix anything. As a boy, he grew up in a family of musicians, and was a drummer in a band he started called “The Group”. He had a love for playing the drums, motorcycles, and his many toys. He took pride in his self-taught laser engraving and design skills. He would not rest until the project was finished perfectly. He will forever be remembered and adored for his creativity, his kindness, and his ability to make anyone laugh with his wildly unique and entertaining sense of humor.
Bud was the loving father of Erica Mikovich of Mentor; cherished grandfather of Jacob Wenzlick; brother of Jo-Ann (nee Mikovich) Kulle; and uncle of Courtney Cantrell and Diana Kulle. Bud is also survived by his beloved pet, Buddy “Budda,”many lifelong friends, his Plank Road Tavern family, and all those that he met along his way.
He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Mikovich in 1987; and parents, Joseph M. and Josephine (nee Samsa) Mikovich.
Family will receive friends from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 11, at The Abbey of Willoughby, 38011 Euclid Ave. (located on the grounds of McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home), in Willoughby, with a memorial service at 3:30 p.m.
A full Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Please join the Facebook Group: “Celebration of Life honoring Bud Mikovich,” where details of the event will be posted soon.
