Obituary for John "Jack" Hunter

John “Jack” Hunter, 87, of Mentor, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2021, at Ahuja Medical Center in Beachwood.
Born Sept. 22, 1934, in Cleveland, he had been a resident of Mentor for 46 years.
John was a member of the Mentor Senior Center, where he enjoyed chair volleyball, WII bowling and shooting pool. He was a proud U.S. Navy veteran, serving aboard the USS Wasp Aircraft Carrier, and loved the Cleveland Indians baseball and bowling.
Mr. Hunter was in the banking business for many years and after retirement, he had worked 15 years for Malley’s in Mentor at the soda fountain.
John was the loving father of Linda M. (Mitchell) Goodyear; cherished grandfather of Alex B. Goodyear; dear brother of Paul (Gloria) Hunter and Mary Ann Heinold; half-brother, Jim (Mary) Hunter; and uncle of many, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elaine Carmel Jean (nee Silvaroli) Hunter; parents, James and Marie (nee Filliez) Hunter; and brother-in-law, Donald Heinold.
Family will receive friends from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, at The Abbey of Willoughby, 38011 Euclid Ave. (located on the grounds of McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home), in Willoughby, with a Celebration of Life service at 3:30 p.m. Burial will be in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens.
