Obituary for James R Mandelik

Funeral Mass for James R. Mandelik, 93, of Mentor, will be 1 p.m. Monday, July 31, 2023, at St. John Vianney Church, 7575 Bellflower Road, Mentor.
James passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at TriPoint Medical Center in Concord Township.
Born Nov. 8, 1929, in Cleveland, he had lived in Highland Heights before moving to Mentor 23 years ago.
He was a member of ALHAMBRA- Carmona Caravan, an active member of MAHDI Carmona #75 for 47 years, and an active member of the REVED UP Group at Eaton. James was a graduate of Cathedral Latin High School, attended Fenn College and John Carroll University, was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a member of the Catholic War Veterans.
Mr. Mandelik worked as a mechanical engineer at General Motors and Eaton prior to retiring.
James was the beloved husband of Ann F. (nee Zaller) Jerome Mandelik; loving father of James A. Mandelik, M.D.; cherished grandfather of Patrick Mandelik (fiancée, Emily Morrissette), Sean (Katie) Mandelik and Logan (Krista) Mandelik; stepfather of Cheryl Angelone Alderman; dear brother of Catherine (nee Mandelik) (Jerold) Kalal; and the uncle and great-uncle of many.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean (nee Arena) Mandelik; parents, James Alfred and Roberta (nee Gaston) Mandelik; and sister, Marianne (Bill, dec.) Thompson.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 30, at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St. (Route 615, north of Route 2), in Mentor. Burial will be held at a later date.
