Obituary for George S Zimmer

Funeral Mass for George S. Zimmer, 76, of Euclid, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, at St. Noel Catholic Church, 35200 Chardon Road, Willoughby Hills,
George passed away Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022, in Cleveland.
Born Feb. 23, 1946, in Cleveland, he had been a resident of Euclid for 30 years.
George was a professional golfer, a sports journalist, a passionate English teacher, and an avid fisherman. He loved to travel to different destinations with his beloved companion, Sandy. He especially loved Seabrook Island and Charleston, S.C., and Lake Chautauqua in New York. He was proud of his daughter graduating from a prestigious university and will be missed my many tremendously.
He was a loving companion of Sandra Kapudja; devoted father of Jan (nee Costa) Zimmer; loving brother of Elaine (nee Zimmer) Hogan; cherished uncle of Ken Hogan and Lisa (Bill) Trevathan; great-uncle of Nathan; a loving cousin to many in the Zmijewski family; and a friend to many all over the country.
George was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Janet (nee Zimmer) Smith; loving parents; and best friends in life, Bob Clark and Tim Myslenski.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, at The Abbey of Willoughby, 38011 Euclid Ave. (located on the grounds of McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home), in Willoughby. Burial will follow the Mass at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
