Obituary for Dolores May "Dee" Young

Dolores May “Dee” (nee Norton) Young, 90, of Painesville, passed away Monday, Jan. 8, 2024, Concord Ridge Health & Rehab in Mentor.
She was born June 13, 1933, in Camden, N.J.
Dee worked for many years as a mother of five and a waitress in New Jersey. Later in life, she worked for Trump Plaza in Atlantic City in the payroll department. After retirement, she moved to Ohio. Dee loved dinners out and dancing with her second husband Bob. Often dancing with an arm in the air and a “whoa” now and then. She was the life of the party and a glass of wine was often not far away. Dee loved going on cruises and trips to the Caribbean, dearly loved her family and was intensely protective of them.
She was the loving mother of Cathleen (nee Rutan) (Julio) Deleon-Gomez of Little Egg Harbor, N.J., Joan (nee Rutan) Hearn of Leesburg, Fla., Patricia (nee Rutan) (Robert) Fricke of Little Egg Harbor, N.J., Christine (nee Rutan) (Jean) Ferrara of Mentor, and Daniel (Susan) Rutan of Grand Island, Fla.; stepmother of Shelly (nee Young) (Vincent) Mule and Jeff Young; cherished grandmother of Amy Wicki, Jessica (Zach) Woodruff, Daryl (Michael) Martella, Lauren (Rick) Russo, Elyse (Andrew) Thulin, Joseph (Jessica) Ferrara, Alison Waldron, Katelyn (Brad) Wolfe, Kylie Fricke, Amanda (Stephen) Shepard, Timothy and Michael Mule, Sean and Tia Young and Lindsey Young-Gardepe; great-grandmother of Nick Paz, Payton and Kendall Russo, Anthony Aguanno, Jacob, Jackson and Emily Woodruff, Madison, Benjamin, and Connor Wolfe, Nathan and Charlotte Ferrara, Lola and Kane Bleeker, Tanner, Angelina and Michael Martella, Skylar and Stephen Shepard, Jackson Young, Gage and Hudson Gardepe; and aunt of many.
Dee was preceded in death by first husband, John Rutan; second husband, Robert “Bob” Young; parents, Harry Anderson and May (nee Hummel) Norton; brother, Arthur Norton; and sister, June (nee Norton) Mullen.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024, at The Abbey of Willoughby, 38011 Euclid Ave. (located on the grounds of McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home), in Willoughby, with a Celebration of Life service at 4:30 p.m.
