Obituary for David Lawrence Willins

David Lawrence Willins, 59, of Strongsville, passed away Friday, Dec. 9, 2022, at Southwest General Hospital in Middleburg Heights.
Born July 23, 1963, in Radford, Va., he lived in Avon before moving to Strongsville 10 years ago.
David served as a Boy Scout Leader and was a longtime member of the Order of the Arrow. He loved all Cleveland sports teams, was a big time Buckeye fan and cheered for the Cincinnati Bengals. David was a collector of many things, enjoyed hiking, the outdoors, photography, gardening, challenging puzzles and was a staff supporter of the Northeast Ohio Mastiff Picnic. As a graduate of The Ohio State University, David received a PhD in Neuropharmacology and served as a pharmacist at University Hospitals for more than 20 years.
David was the beloved husband of Dianne Ivy (nee Kacic) Pierce-Willins; loving father of Joshua D. (Samantha) Willins and Aaron C. Willins; stepfather of Jordan T. Pierce and Hayley E. Pierce; dear son of Richard E. Willins; brother of Michael (Jennifer) Willins; and uncle of Jake and Ellis Willins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara (nee Lauterbach) Ruxton.
A Celebration of Life for David will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. Dec. 27, at the North Chagrin Reservation - River Grove Picnic Area (Chestnut Shelter), with a short ceremony in David’s honor beginning at 6 p.m. There will be no burial service.
