Obituary for Christine V Burgess
Christine V. (nee Halmagy) Burgess, 74, of Madison, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2024, at her home with her family by her side.
Born Nov. 7, 1949, in Cleveland, she had been a resident of Lake County for 30 years, living in Mentor for 12 years before moving to Madison.
Christine enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking and collecting glassware. She loved her grandchildren and being with her animals, especially “her babies” (dogs).
She was the beloved wife of 56 years to Ralph J. Burgess; loving mother of Steven R. Burgess and Victoria C. Burgess-Kochis; cherished grandmother of Tiffany (Mike), Taylor, Cheyenne (Christian), and Anthony; great-grandmother of Brayden, Vinnie, Lilly and Ivy; dear sister of David (Nancy) Halmagy and Caroline (Mitchell) Wigand; and aunt of nieces and nephews.
Christine was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Adele (nee Milikas) Halmagy; and sister, Patricia (Gary, dec.) Wigand.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby, where a funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13. Pastor Mike Currier will officiate. Burial will follow the service at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
