Obituary for Cheryl Ann Kristoff

Funeral Mass for Cheryl Ann (nee Pengal) Kristoff, 74, of Wickliffe, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 13, 2023, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 29850 Euclid Ave., Wickliffe.
It is with immense sadness the passing of Cheryl is announced. She passed peacefully July 4, 2023, in her home on her own terms after a long, courageous, and defiant battle with cancer.
Cheryl was born May 24, 1949, in Cleveland. A cherished mother, wife, sister, daughter, and friend, she was, above all and was born to be, the most incredible grandma to her four grandchildren, who she loved and spoiled dearly and they, her.
Never one to be brought down, her steadfast hope and determination were contagious and she amazed everyone who met her. It is fitting that she passed on the six year anniversary of her mother, Elizabeth “Betty,” who helped shepherd her safely and lovingly into this next phase.
After graduating high school in Wickliffe, she pursued courses of study at Lakeland Community College and spent several years working at Reliance Electric. Upon the birth of her first child, Dan, she dedicated her life to being a fantastic and involved mother, even going so far as to work in the middle and high school cafeterias and assisting with her daughter, Cari's musicals just to be closer to her children. Years later, she found her true professional calling as a preschool teacher at Willoughby-Eastlake Schools, a job she excelled at and loved. She was an excellent and avid gift giver, a Cedar Point (and skeeball) aficionado, loved musicals, and never missed a special date or an opportunity to spend with her treasured grandchildren or to show you how much she loved you.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Elizabeth “Betty” (nee Timko) Pengal; and brother, Jim Pengal.
Her husband, Bruce; children, Dan S. (Nicole) Kristoff and Cari E. (Chris) Catts; grandchildren, Sloane and Fiona Kristoff and Julian and Oliver Catts; siblings, Beverly Pengal, Edward (Joni) Pengal, Patricia (Edward) Barth, Doris Crumbley, and Thomas (Mary) Pengal, and numerous nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews will miss her more than words can say and will love her forever.
The Light of God surrounds you. The Love of God enfolds you. The Power of God protects. The Presence of God watches over you. Wherever you are, God is. And all is well.
“We love you so very much, Mom.”
Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby. Burial will follow the Mass at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
