Obituary for Arthur Carl Beifus

Arthur Carl Beifus, age 97, of Mentor, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, June 11, 2023. Arthur was being visited and comforted by family members at the David Simpson Hospice House in Euclid.
He was the son of Julius and Eugenia (nee Hunter) Beifus, and grew up on the west side of Cleveland, having adventures with his twin brother, Alfred and working in the greenhouse business managed by his father.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a radio specialist and was stationed in France and Germany from 1944 through 1946. After returning, Arthur earned a degree in chemical engineering at Fenn College (now Cleveland State University). He married Betty Christian in 1948.
After graduating, he began working for Lubrizol Corporation, where he made his career as a process engineer and safety specialist. Arthur was a skilled builder and gardener and used those skills in constructing his family home and gardens as well as completing many woodworking projects for his church. His faith was a guiding force in his life and he will be remembered for his generosity and willingness to help others.
He was preceded in death by sister, Mary Ann Budniak; brother, Paul; daughter, Wendy Webster; and nephew, Bruce Beifus.
Arthur is survived by wife, Betty (nee Christian) Beifus; daughter, Claudia; sons, Brian, Dana and Kurt; brother, Alfred; and niece, Jennifer Beifus.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at Faith Lutheran Church, 8125 Mentor Ave., Mentor.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be directed to the Holden Arboretum, "Beifus Memorial.”
