Obituary for Adolph Slabe

Funeral Mass for Adolph Slabe, 87, of Willowick, will be 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 31, at Ss. Robert and William Catholic Parish, 367 E. 260th St., in Euclid. Father John Betters will officiate.
Adolph passed away Thursday, Oct. 20, 2022, at The Cleveland Clinic.
Born March 2, 1935, in Cleveland, he had been a resident of Willowick for 57 years.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army. Adolph was a teacher in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, became an accountant, working at Addressograph-Multigraph and Picker International. Adolph served as president and was an official for many years for the Willowick Swim Team. He was a beloved member and active volunteer at Ss. Robert and William Catholic Parish. Adolph answered to many names including Rudy, Bruno, Sonny, Superman and The Euchre King. Although each held their own meaning, none made him as happy as being called Dad, Papa and for 65 years, Husband. His family was his heart and they were with him when he peacefully passed away. “Our funny, kind and gentle Superman will be dearly missed.”
He was the beloved husband of 65 years to Jeannette (nee Meyers) Slabe; loving father of Michael (Marjan) Slabe of Pepper Pike, Terese D’Amico (John Yagoda) of Sheffield Village, Sharon (Mark) Knauss of Strongsville and Thomas (Gretchen) Slabe of Scottsdale, Ariz.; cherished grandfather of Carla, Mario, Emily (Ian), Matthew, Sarah, Hanna, Gabriella, Jocelyn, Luke and Julia; great-grandfather of Michaela; dear brother of Mary Lou (nee Slabe) Weekley; and uncle of many.
Adolph was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Mary (nee Krince) Slabe.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township following the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name are suggested to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland, OH 44110, or The Church of St. Dominic, 19000 Van Aken Blvd., Shaker Heights, OH 44122.
