    • John S. Timko, 66, of Mentor, passed away Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, at the Hospice of the Western Reserve in Cleveland, with his family by his side. He was born Dec. 19, 1945, in Cleveland. John was a Lake County resident for 38 years, living in Mentor and previously living in Cleveland. He was a member of St. John Vianney Church in Mentor and president of the St. John Vianney St. Vincent DePaul Society. John was a 1964 graduate of Benedictine High School, veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during the Vietnam War and member of the American Legion Buckeye Post 559 in Cleveland. John enjoyed the outdoors, loved traveling and cruising and was a certified scuba diver. He was very proud of his family and his Hungarian heritage; and loved being with his extended family, the community of St. John Vianney parish, his co-workers and many friends. Everyone was so important to John. John was employed for 13 years at Progressive Insurance Company in Mayfield Heights, and previously worked for the Cole National and the Weatherhead Company. He was the beloved husband of 43 years to Margaret D. (nee Lewellen) Timko; loving father of Jannell A. (David) Sargent of Westlake and Jared S. (Kathy) Timko of Leroy; cherished grandfather of Mark and Chad Sargent, Adeline and John Timko; and mother-in-law, Bernice Lewellen. He was preceded in death by his parents, John A. and Helen (nee Nemeth) Timko; and father-in-law, Homer Lewellen. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, at St. John Vianney Church, 7575 Bellflower Road, Mentor, OH 44060. Fr. Tom Johns will officiate at the services. Family will receive friends from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center Street (Route 615, north of Route 2), in Mentor. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery, in Chardon Township. Family suggests donations in his name be made to Benedictine High School, 2900 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Cleveland, OH 44104; All Saints School c/o St. John Vianney; St. Vincent DePaul Society (poor and needy) c/o St. John Vianney; North East Chapter of H.D.S.A (Huntington's Disease Society of America), 10176 Luman Lane, Twinsburg, OH 44087 or Hospice of the Western Reserve, 300 East 185 Street, Cleveland, OH 44119.

    • Mrs. Timko, Jared, and Jannell, I want to extend our deepest sympathy to all of you and your families. Mr. Timko (as I called him) was a great man! You are in our thoughts and prayers.     • My sincerest sympathy & prayers to Jannell & family. I have had the pleasure of knowing Mr. Timko as I am Jamnell's sister-In-law. Over the years of knowing Me. Timko, I have seen an outstanding man who was dedicated to God, family, and friends; nothing meant more to him! He continuosly showed his commitment through love, kindness, & generosity. He will be missed by all who knew him!
