    • Funeral services for Thomas E. Murphy Jr., 55, of Birmingham, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at New Promise Church, 8671 Chardon Road, Kirtland. Mr. Murphy passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at his residence. He was born March 12, 1955, in Waynesburg, Pa. He was a 1973 graduate of Mentor High School and a member of the Vermilion Church of the Nazarene. Mr. Murphy worked as an electrical engineer for Ford Motor Company at the Lorain Assembly Plant in Lorain for 26 years and for 11 years in Louisville, Ky. He was the beloved husband of 37 years to Joyce L. (Brown) Murphy; loving father of Bridget C. (Steve) Richey of LaGrange, Ky., Gwendolyn E. (Derrick) Lehman of South Amherst and Thomas E. (Michelle Varrone) Murphy III of Birmingham; cherished grandfather of Ryan Murphy, Karlie Richey, Parker Richey, Carter Lehman and Emersyn Lehman; devoted son of Thomas Edward Murphy Sr., and Cynthia (McMannes) Murphy of Mentor; and brother of Tammy (James) Gunvalsen of Mentor, Joni (Eric) Sheck of Concord Township and Kelly (David) Downs of Vicksburg, Mich. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church. The Rev. David Downs will officiate the service. Burial will be in Birmingham Cemetery in Birmingham. Arrangements are entrusted to McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Homes in Willoughby and Mentor.
