    • Funeral services for Thelma A. Cottrell, 77, of Mentor, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby. Mrs. Cottrell passed away Monday, June 21, 2010, at Golden Living Center of the Western Reserve in Kirtland. Born Sept. 29, 1932, in Cleveland, she was a Lake County resident for 61 years, living in Mentor. Thelma was a member of Calvary Fellowship Baptist Church in Painesville. Formerly an active volunteer at Holden Arboretum, she was a quilter who loved singing in the Lake County Messiah Chorus. Mrs. Cottrell was a retired teacher with over 30 years of teaching service in the Mentor School System, mostly at Dale R. Rice School. She was the beloved wife of 58 years of Allan B. Cottrell; loving mother of Ruth A. Cottrell of Merritt Island, Fla., Timothy J. (Susan) Cottrell of Merritt Island, Debra J. Pomfret of Mentor and Patricia M. (Craig) Wackford of Bel Air, Md.; cherished grandmother of John, Jeremy, Christopher, Jason, Amber, Brandon and Joshua; and great-grandmother of J.P. and Luke. The family will receive friends 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, July 10, 2010, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mentor Cemetery. Donations in her name may be made to Hannah's Home, 8525 Lake Shore Blvd., Mentor, OH 44060.
