Private family services were held for Albert T. Griffin, 85, of Mentor.
Mr. Griffin passed away Monday, June 14, 2010.
Born Feb. 9, 1925, in Davenport, Iowa, he had been a Lake County resident for the past 50 years, living in Mentor.
Mr. Griffin was a merchant marine early in his adult life, sailing the Great Lakes and abroad. He later became a barber, owning Griffin's Barber Shop at Eckley's Corner in Mentor-on-the-Lake for more than 40 years.
He was a long time member of the Mentor Masonic Lodge, serving as grand master. Mr. Griffin also enjoyed the challenge of chess, crossword puzzles and cards. He was a lifelong lover of both music and Cleveland sports, especially the Tribe. He loved going on cruises and traveling in his RV.
He was the loving father of Caren L. (Robert) Waldman of Mentor; Thomas R. (Maureen Reedy) Griffin of Columbus and Jane G. (Craig) Hoskins of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; cherished grandmother of Bradley, Kevin and Scott Waldman, Jackie and Dan Griffin and Samantha and Melissa Hoskins; and loving brother to Joni Rucker.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonita; parents, Ira Griffin and Ruth Osborne; and siblings, Ira, Francis, Margaret, Earl and John.

Arrangements are entrusted to McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Homes in Willoughby and Mentor.
