- Funeral services for Ellen Rowena (Hoke) Lequin, 96, of Mentor-on-the-Lake will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St. (Rt. 615, north of Route 2) Mentor. Mrs. Lequin died June, 9, 2010, at Sunrise Assisted Living Center in Willoughby. She was born Nov. 12, 1913, in Salem, Ind., living in Mentor-on-the-Lake for 31 years. Mrs. Lequin was a member of Mentor Plains United Methodist Church for 31 years; past president and secretary of the Mentor Plains United Methodist Church Women's Society and active in the Stephen Ministries at the church. She was a recipient of the lifetime Achievement Award from the Mentor United Methodist Church Women's Society. She was a graduate of the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing and an alumnae of Hanover College, Hanover, Ind. She was an excellent seamstress, an avid reader and a sports fan who enjoyed the Cleveland Indians. Mrs. Lequin was a registered nurse who had worked at Huron Road Hospital and University Hospitals. Survivors are her daughter, Jane Lequin McKee of Mentor; grandchildren, Ellyn L.(Greg) Mackey and James "Marty" McKee; sister, Jeneva Wilson of Ft. Myers, Fla.; sister-in-law Helen Hoke of Elkhorn, Wis. and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Louis C. Lequin in 1981; son-in-law, James B. McKee; siblings, Ruby Calloway, Reva Wilson and Ruel "Bud" Hoke. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, 4 to 8 p.m. Monday. The Pastor Tadd Butler will officiate at services. Burial will be in Whitehaven Cemetery, Mayfield Village. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in her name be made to Health Care Odyssey Hospice, 6140 Parkland Blvd. Suite 105, Mayfield Heights, OH 44124.
