Obituary for Nelly Hamilton

Nelly  Hamilton
Nelly Hamilton of Mentor passed away on Nov. 16, 2017 at Hospice of the Western Reserve.
She was 93 years old. She was born in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, and married and came to the United States after WWII. Widowed at a young age, she lived a life of love and dedication to her family. She retired as comptroller for Mold Masters of Mentor and did volunteer work in the community. She will be remembered, among other things, for her love and devotion to her family, fortitude, unassumingness, humor, generosity, and the courage with which she faced her final years. She will be greatly missed by her family.
She is survived by children, Michael Hamilton, Karen (Gil) Shapiro, and Thomas (Kimberly) Hamilton; grandchildren, Alison (Scott) Calkins, Margit Hamilton and Philip Hamilton; great grandchildren, Alexea Calkins and Zadie Watson; sisters, Aly Spronk and Johanna Van Zuilekom of the Netherlands; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Merritt Wesley Hamilton; parents, Arie and Neeltje Zevenbergen; sister, Leentje Oosterhuis; and brother, Jan (Jane) Zevenbergen.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday followed by a memorial service at 4 p.m. at the McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St., (Route 615, north of Route 2), Mentor.
Pastor Troy Elam will officiate at the service. Private family burial.
