Funeral services for Blanche Ann Hill Hood, 98, of Kirtland will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at New Promise Church, 8671 Euclid-Chardon Rd., Kirtland. Pastor Dale Diggs will officiate at the service.
Blanche passed away Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017 at her daughter’s residence in Kirtland.
Born Feb. 24, 1919 in Julian, W Va., she had been a resident of Lake County for 25 years, the last seven years in Kirtland, and previously lived in Cleveland for 30 years.
She had worked for the government in Baltimore, Maryland during World War II and for General Electric in Cleveland. She was a member of Lory Baptist Church in Lory, W. Va.
Blanche was the loving mother of Jerri Hill (Eliseo) Cefaratti of Kirtland and Alma Sue Hill (James) Steele, of Kirtland; mother-in-law of Larry Parcharsky; cherished grandmother of Samuel Cefaratti, Bruce Cefaratti, Amy Cvelbar, Beth Radisek, Sheryl Fedor, Jamie Curtis, Jodi Meilstrup and Heidi Schardine; great-grandmother of 27 and great-great-grandmother of one grandson; and sister of three brothers and two sisters.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond Hood; daughter, Judith A. Hill Parcharsky; and five brothers. Brothers, Leo Smith died in WWII at the Battle of the Bulge, Paul Smith received the Silver Star, Lon was in WWII in the Navy, George was in the Korean War and Earnest Doutin also served his country.
Family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at New Promise Church. Burial will be in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chester Township.
