Obituary for Helen A Spike

Helen A. Spike (Lonchar), age 91 and resident of Mentor, passed away August 21, 2016. She was born July 20, 1925 in Cardale, PA where she grew up, attended Redstone High School, and proudly wore the letter ‘N’ as one of Redstone High’s cheerleaders. Before moving to Cleveland, Helen worked for the FBI in New York City during World War II. Helen also worked at, and retired from TRW in Euclid.
In addition to being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, one of her greatest accomplishments in life was bowling – not one – but TWO 300 games. She also loved to make jewelry and bake – and to share those wonderful culinary and artistic creations with friends and family.
She is survived by sons Thomas and Robert (Cora); grandchildren, Jennifer, Alex and Stephen; siblings, Thomas, Laurette and Joe; sisters-in-law Angie “Toots”, Sandy, Eleanor and Pat, and many nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Alex; parents, Mike and Mary; mother and father-in-law Joseph and Mary Spike (Pieja); siblings, Steven, Marie, Madge, George, Nick, Rudy, Mike and Margo; brothers-in-law, Freddie, Lou, Jim, George, John and Kelly; and sisters-in-law, Marylin and Helen.
Friends and family may call at Mc Mahon Coyne Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center Street, Mentor, OH 44060 (Route 615, north of Route 2) for visitation on Friday, August 26 from 4p.m. to 8p.m.
A funeral service will take place Saturday, August 27 at 1p.m. at the funeral home.
